Bot Permissions
Xenon Vault requires some permissions on your server to function correctly. Please follow this guide to setup the permissions to make sure your server is as protected as possible.
When you invite Xenon Vault to your server a new role called Vault is created. It's recommended you use this role to configure the permissions for Xenon Vault because it's directly tied to it.
We recommend configuring permissions for your specific use-case and only grant permissions that are actually necessary. Try to give Xenon Vault as little permissions as possible and follow the guidelines below for each use-case.
Creating Snapshots
To create snapshots of your server Xenon Vault has to have access to all information you want to save. For maximum security we strongly recommend giving it the following permissions in all channels. If you don't give it the necessary permissions Xenon Vault might not be able to save messages and threads.
Restoring Snapshots
To restore snapshots Xenon Vault requires pretty much all permissions to make changes to your server. Because assigning every single permissions can be quite tedious we recommend giving Xenon Vault administrator permissions when restoring a snapshot.
For security reasons, it's highly recommended to only give Xenon Vault administrator permissions when you want to restore a snapshot. Please remove administrator permissions again once you are done!
It's also very important to move the Vault role which is created after inviting Xenon Vault to your server to the top of your role list. Only this way Xenon Vault can manage make changes to all roles and members.
Change Tracking
For change tracking to work correctly no additional permissions are necessary. If you want to track changes to private threads make sure to give Xenon Vault the following permissions in all relevant channels.
